Eyewitnesses of giant flying creatures describe things that suggest "pterodactyls" more than bats. Many describe a featherless appearance and a long tail. Cryptozoologists who specialize in these sightings--Whitcomb, Woetzel, Nation, Guessman, and others--say that the creatures are real and much more pterosaur-like than bat-like. They do not believe in an unclassified giant bat; they believe in live pterosaurs.
The Flying Fox is the largest kind of bat; but it is too small to account for the sightings.
